Glucose, the typical photosynthetic product, functions not only as a universal nutrient but also as a regulatory signaling cue during plant development. The evolutionally conserved Target of Rapamycin (TOR) kinase is a known master regulator that can be activated by glucose in coordinating multiple developmental programs with metabolic changes (Xiong et al., 2013). However, how glucose–TOR signaling affects specific gene sets involved in numerous regulatory networks during plant developmental transition and differentiation is not well understood.
