Cary Karp (b. 1947) served as Director of Internet Strategy and Technology at the Swedish Museum of Natural History and at the International Council of Museums (ICOM). He is President of the Museum Domain Management Association, and an Associate Professor of Organology at Uppsala University in Sweden. Carp has been instrumental in increasing the visibility of the museum community worldwide through the internet. As President of MuseDoma, he currently manages the Museum Network Information Center (MUSENIC) Project in Europe. For more than 30 years, Carp has been representing the museum sector in ICOM’s International Committees and organisations dedicated to conservation, musical instruments, and documentation. He has received numerous Board and Advisory Committee appointments to serve Swedish national museums, as well as European Union initiatives to different international consortiums, such as the International Conference on Artificial Neural Networks (ICANN), in order to develop and enhance the participation of the museum community through the use of internet.
