本研究では, 陶磁器産業地域の自治体が, その特性を生かした地域づくりを実現するための政策・計画・事業・指導者育成の実態と課題を明らかにした. その結果, 多くの自治体が陶磁器産業を地域のまちづくりの重要な資源として認識しながらも, 効果的な活用ができていないことがわかった. また, 産業継承に課題を抱える自治体も多い一方で, 地域振興や観光施策の目玉として窯業が認識されている自治体も多く存在した.
