Source/Description: An STS for the corticotropin releasing hormone (CRH) gene was derived from published sequence data (1) and used to screen a chromosome 8 specific cosmid library (2). Cosmid 72B12 was obtained from this screen. A 1.5 kb fragment of this cosmid which hybridized to a CA repeat probe on Southern blots was subcloned into M13MP18, and a sequence of 636 bp was determined (GenBank accession number L03285). PCR primers were designed to amplify a 144 bp fragment containing a (CA) 19 repeat element found in this sequence.
