As a result of 5 seasons of experimentation with various gravity sampling devices controlled by parallel volumetric tests, the author proposes that air samples should be taken on the unobstructed top of a tall downtown building. He describes a sampling device which consists essentially of 2 parallel planes of polished stainless steel with the slide holder raised 1 in. above the lower plane. He submits a conversion factor with volumetric conversion of pollen and fungus spore counts with definite factors for about 40 pollens and 1 fungus spore. 2 sets of conversion factors are listed so that counting may be done on the basis of 1 sq. cm. of slide area or on 3.6 sq. cm.
