This paper gives a convergence analysis for the Swartztrauber-Sweet approximation for solving the Poisson-type equation on a disk in the polar coordinate system The result justifies a report of Strikwerda-Nagel in 1986 where they asserted without proof that the scheme had the second order accuracy at the origi numerical example is also given.
