Pollen of the genera Actephila, Reverchonia and Bischofia is reported for the first time from Eocene levels. These genera and others like Drypetes, Mallotus, Phyllanthus and Ricinus are described. From a paleophytogeographical point of view, the occurrence of Bischofia (recent asiatic monospecific genus) in the French Middle Eocene is important. If genera like Drypetes and Mallotus indicate a warm and humid forest environment during the Early Eocene, taxa occurring at the end of the Eocene, such as Leptopus-type and Reverchonia-type indicate an evolution towards more open and dryer environments.
