To study the association between the cardiovascular disease (CVD) and old people’s living environment in rural Shanghai in winter, questionnaires and interviews were first conducted in 60 households in rural Shanghai in winter to investigate the living environment and habits of the elderly persons. Field measurement was followed in 5 typical households, including continuously monitoring indoor and outdoor temperature, relative humidity, and CO2concentration for a whole week; the elderly’s blood pressure in this week; and PM1, PM2.5, PM10, CO and NOXconcentration at the end of this week. The conclusion is that the temperature of a room in the morning is significantly lower than evening (p<0.05), and the temperature of the toilets is significantly lower than bedrooms and living rooms (p<0.05). According to the field measurement, RH of toilets and living rooms are above 70%, and houses are obviously affected with damp. Additionally, the elderly’s blood pressure in the morning is significantly higher than evening (p<0.001).
