814 The subject of the article “Gas Souring by Thermochemical Sulfate Reduction at 140°C” by Worden et al. (1995) is closely related to our recent research. We examined the origin of H2S and other organic sulfur compounds (OSC) in produced gas from gas condensate-filled Stari Gradac field in the Drava depression in Croatia. Based on results of numerous conventional and specific analyses of reservoir rocks, gas, condensate, and formation water, and data from fluid composition monitoring over a long period of time, we concluded that sulfur compounds in the Stari Gradac reservoir (Permian‐Triassic, depths greater than 3700 m) were formed by thermochemical reduction mechanism of sulfate rock (anhydrite) in the presence of
