National borders are becoming less relevant in the delivery of higher education. At the same time, the nature of cross-border sharing in higher education is changing. Across East Asia, international collaborations among higher education institutions have diversified in the purposes for which they are undertaken, as have the nature and design of the collaborations themselves and the outcomes that are actually achieved. The examination of cross-border higher education programs across East Asia as described and discussed in this publication provides a basis for offering six cross-cutting observations.
