In Dao De Jing, a classical Chinese Treatise , Lao Zi said that "Retrospect propels one on the way to truth". In other words , a deep look into history helps us to come to terms with the present and motivates us towards the future. Today , we are on the threshold of a new Century and a new Millenium. The profound changes that have occurred during the present Mille nnium inspires an awesome feeling in me. Let us rev iew the development of architecture in the past century , so that we can obtain a clear idea of the past and present to recognize the road ahead . This is the mission of our Congress. Undoubtedly, a n honorable as well as an arduous task .
