Elastic and inelastic scattering cross sections of the system 12 C+ 12 C at several bombarding energies are calculated within a parameterfree model using the recently developed nonlocal energy-independent bare potential. Comparison with the data indicates that such a calculation gives accurately the average values of the cross sections. The system 12 C+ 11 Li is also discussed.
