MATERIALS AND METHODSThe technique involves the slow injection of a quick-setting fluid into a jelly or into the selected tissue. In the early stages of the development of the process, plaster of Paris was injected into table jellies, but when it was desired to study the effect of injecting such materials into animal tissue the need to boil the specimen in strong acid or alkaline solutions to remove the tissue made it necessary to use quick-setting dental plastics instead. The apparatus consists of a beaker that contains the jelly over which is supported a large hypodermic syringe that contains the plaster of Paris (fig. 1). The injections of dental plastic into tissue were made from smaller disposable syringes in the normal manner.
