SUMMARY A graphical method is presented enabling quick tests to be made of the adequacy of various discrete models as possible explanations of observed data. Many of the commonly occurring discrete forms are covered by this approach. The use of this technique to estimate unknown parameters is open to criticism, but may be a useful starting-point for more sophisticated procedures.
