A new type of pathogenesis, caused by a recently isolated virus, is described in larvae of G. mellonella. Nuclei are rapidly and strongly hypertrophied and become eosinophilic. A voluminous dense body is formed in each infected nucleus. Adipose, peritracheal, hypodermic tissues, hemocytes, oenocytes and cells of silk glands are destroyed in 4 to 6 days. Only nucleic masses persist.
