Vapor-liquid equilibrium data may be readily evaluated and extended when they are calculated ai activity coefficients. The equations proposed by van Lear, Margules, and Scatchard and Hamer, which express the activity coefficients of both components of a binary mixture as functions of the liquid composition and empirical con-stants, are capable of fitting most of the available vapor-liquid equilibrium data.
