Reaction of CsNO3and RbNO3with naturally occuring kyanite, kaolin and pyrophillite have been studied using DTA and TGA apparatus. The reaction products are the alumino di- and tetrasilicate either appearing alone or in combination depending on the composition of the starting mixture. A linear rate law was found to be valid for alkali nitrate-metakaolin reaction up to 100 percent conversion.
