A n x-ray diffraction investigation of the crystals of thorium and uranium diphthalocyanine complexes was undertaken, and it was shown that they are isostructural with the following characteristics: space group B2/b, Z= 4; UPc2: a= 18, 73, b= 15.60, c= 18.70~, y= l13f/~ ThPc2: a= 18.74, b= 15, 79, c= 18.73,~,?,= 113.3~ The structures were interpreted by the heavy-atom method and refined by the method of least squares in isotropic approximation to R= 0,140 (ThPc 2) and 0.137 (UPc2). The molecules are of the sandwich type, formed by two distorted phthalocyanine ligaMs rotated to each other by 38~ The metal atom lies at the center of a distorted square antiprism formed by the eight nitrogen atoms.
