1 A head-controlled feeding mechanism is particularly useful for people with quadriplegia. When quadriplegia is the result of a spinal cord injury, the upper extremities and even the torso may be impaired, depending on where the lesion occurs. However, the quadriplegic generally has good control over his or her head and neck movements. for each product depends on the cost, time for development and for production, production volume, and ultimately profitability. Our main objective here is to focus on engineering technologies that are required to support the rapid design and production of customized goods and services tailored to the needs of a specific consumer. We describe essential component technologies that are currently missing but are critical for agile manufacturing and discuss a computer-integrated approach to customized design and prototyping. In particular, we explore an integrated approach to the design and prototyping of passive, assistive rehabilitation aids for people with motor disabilities.
