Department of Physics and Center of Theoretical and Computational Physics,The University of Hong Kong, Pokfulam Road, Hong Kong, China(Dated: June 1, 2010)Pseudogap phenomena and the formation of Fermi arcs in underdoped cuprates are numericallystudied in the presence of phase fluctuations that are simulated by an XY model. Most importantlythe spectral function for each Monte Carlo sample is calculated directly and efficiently by theChebyshev polynomials without having to diagonalize the fermion Hamiltonian, which enables us tohandle a system large enough to achieve sufficient momentum/energy resolution. We find that themomentum dependence of the energy gap is identical to that of a pure d-wave superconductor wellbelow the KT-transition temperature (T
