The Child-to-Child health education approach introduced in 1978 by educators at London University is based on recognition of the potential of children themselves to spread health promoting practices to other children their families and their communities. This process in turn is dependent upon providing children with the facts and skills associated with good health. When this approach is taught in schools classroom work becomes linked to the childs daily life. Child-to-Child programs also can be implemented in health centers youth groups and refugee camps for example. The model follows a series of steps: selecting the health idea gathering information on local beliefs and practices related to this problem discussion of what was discovered planning individual and collective actions taking action and discussing results. This manual intended for facilitators of Child-to-Child programs in developed and developing countries includes activity sheets for a range of health-related topics descriptions of the teaching methodology advice on program evaluation and instructions on workshop organization.
