QSO spectra are usually explained by identifying the observed lines with known search lines and the redshift is determined based on such identifications. Three QSOs, viz. SDSS 1533-00, PG 1407+265 and PKS 0637-752, have been reported in recent years whose spectra are unusual in the sense that they cannot be explained on the basis of the usual interpretation of the observed lines in the redshift hypothesis. In a recent paper (D Basu and S Haque-Copilah 2001 Physica Scripta 63 425), it was shown that QSO spectra can be interpreted convincingly in terms of blueshifts. Redshifts may have been assigned to some QSOs due to misidentification of observed lines, and unusual spectra should be particularly investigated in this respect. In this paper we have identified all the observed features in the spectra of the above three QSOs at longer wavelengths in terms of blueshifts.
