(3) propargylic alcohols of all three types (I, II, and III) were found to be readily available via the regiospecific addition of (trimethylsilyl) allenesto ketones and aldehydes in the presence of titanium tetrachloride. In this paper we now provide full details of our investigation of the scope of this reaction. Further examples of the method are described, including several new cases involving chiral alienes which define the stereochemical course of the reaction.
