A new species of Parascolopsis (Nemipteridae) is described from two specimens collected in 65-70m depth in Mentawi Strait , off the west coast of Sumat ra , Indonesia. Parascolopsis qalllasi sp. nov. is separable from congeners on the basis of differences in number of gill rakers on the first arch , extent of scalation o n top of the head , and absence of scales on the lower limb of the preopercle.
