Founded in 1965, the Operations Research Society of New Zealand (ORSNZ) is a nationwide not-for-profit body comprising academics and public servants, consultants, and practitioners in industry. It currently has over 150 members within New Zealand and is affiliated to APORS, IFORS, and the Royal Society of New Zealand. The primary aim of the Society is to promote Operations Research and Management Science in New Zealand to industrial and academic groups.
The Society publishes a regular newsletter, organizes branch meetings in Auckland, Wellington, and Christchurch, and runs an annual two-day conference in late November/early December, with the conference location shifting between the University of Auckland, the University of Canterbury in Christchurch, and the University of Victoria in Wellington. The Society welcomes and financially supports international visitors to present at the conference and/or to speak at branch meetings.
