To any crystal structure with a given topology a finite set of numbers can be assigned which contains important information about the topological properties of the structure. This set is called the eigenvalue spectrum of the structure. Spectra of crystal structures are useful for purposes of classification. They are easily stored in a computer and readily compared with each other.
