While the diagnosis of Alzheimer's disease used to be more confined in the occidental society, it is presently found in Creole society, in particular in l'ile de la Reunion. The cultural perception of this disease reminds processes described for others diseases. It shows the evolution of the relationship between a part of the population of Vile de la Reunion and senility's disorders. This article shows up firstly how the evolution of the care system in Vile de la Reunion depends on news economic data and on cultural processes as creolization, and presents researches on environmental data around Alzheimer's disease. Central in the apprehension of this disease, the investigation of the notion of memory gives an opportunity to think over the inscription of the Alzheimer's disease in the White Creole population. Finally, the way families cope with the diagnosis of the disease refers to already well known mechanisms and emphasized the importance of the prognosis in the construction of explanatory models.
