Complications of intraosseous infusion include subcutaneous and bone infections, 6–8 fractures, 9 skin necrosis, fat embolism, 10 growth plate damage, 10 and compartment syndrome, 7, 11 with an overall complication rate of less than 1%. 8 Limb amputation is a rare occurrence after an intraosseous infusion. 7, 12
