Early or abortive disease was discovered in several members of a family in which hereditary spastic paraplegia was unusually widespread. The fully developed syndrome was present in 18 individuals and incipient disease in 7. Ocular defects were observed in 4 cases. Pictures similar to cerebral diplegia and amyotrophic lateral sclerosis supported the suspected inter-relationships of heredo-familial disorders.
