REsULTsIn all groups, vascularization of the skin graft through an arteriovenous fistula occurred and a secondary island skin graft flap was obtained. Fluorescein dye studies confirmed skin graft vascularity, and microangiography revealed neovascularization, originating from the arteriovenous fistula, that spread into the dermis of the overlying skin graft. Sagittal sections confirmed vascular integrity (Fig. 6). The histologic studies demonstrated newly formed vessels between the skin graft and arteriovenous fistula (Fig. 7). In Figure 8, the drawing summarizes the microangiographic and histologic findings of the new capillary bed formation.
