A review of previously used insect saline solns. is presented. A spermatozoa survival method and a capillary tube method were used for determining the proper salt balance and osmotic pressure, respectively, of the A. aegypti perfusion medium. A modified Belar''s soln. consisting of: 9.0 g. of NaCl, 0.2 of CaCl, 0.2 g. of KCl, and 0.1 g. of Na bicarbonate per 1. of distilled water was found to be the most satisfactory physiological saline tested.
