ceutical industry were most frequently sensitized, apart from quinazoline oxide, by penicillins. Some patients were positive to various penicillins, but, as in the group of nurses studied, it was not possible to establish whether these were multiple sensitizations or cross-reactions, since all patients were exposed at work to all drugs to which they were positive. On the other hand, in pharmaceutical workers as in nurses, we found that contact hypersensitivity was possible only to certain penicillins. In contrast to nurses and veterinary surgeons, pharmaceutical workers were frequently sensitive to tetracyclines ( oxyterracin, tetracycline, doxycycline and metacycline ), particularly the first 2 drugs. Here, it was also not possible to establish the existence of cross-reactions, though a considerable proportion of the patients were sensitized only to I or 2 drugs. 4 pharmaceutical workers were sensitive to disulfiram (Antico!, POLFA), all 4 also being positive to tetramethylthiuram disulphide (TMTD).
