The hyper-Raman scattering spectra from Raman-inactive lattice vibration modes in SrTiO 3 and their specific polarization dependences have been observed at room temperature. The observed frequencies of four modes including T 2u silent mode are in good agreement with the existing data obtained by neutron scattering or infrared measurements.
