The equilibrium constants, K', of a number of sub-stituted semiquinones with the corresponding quiñones and doubly ionized hydroquinones have been measuredby a flow method. The calculation of K'necessitates the consideration of the reversible quinone-hydroxide addition reaction in some cases. Inductive effects have been shown to be an important factor in the position of equi-librium.
