Acoustic radiation pressure is thought to be very useful for solid 4He experiments under microgravity. We observed the manipulation of a 4He solid–liquid interface by an acoustic wave. We applied a sound pulse in a direction perpendicular to the flat interface between two transducers. At low temperatures the interface moved in the sound direction. We also checked how the interface moved when sound was applied parallel to the interface. The interface dynamics during and after the sound pulse were recorded with a high speed CCD camera.
