The article presents data from the Preschool Problem Solving Study on executive control (EC) in early childhood. Topics covered include maximum likelihood estimation (MLE) having well-known optimal properties such as efficiency, consistency, and lack of bias and the dualistic contribution of EC and foundational cognitive abilities to executive task performance through explicit modeling through the bifactor approach.
