Ultrasonography has made it possible to detect fetal maldevelopment involving many organ systems. Most structural anomalies have well-described characteristics and follow a standard pattern of development, permitting accurate prognosis and counseling for families. We present an intriguing case of a fetal head anomaly, to our knowledge never previously reported : the finding of a live singleton fetus sonographically identified to be headless.
