IN working over the very extensive collections made by me in the Philippine Islands in 1931, I have found many fishes new to the Philippines, and also a number of new species. Five of the latter are here presented. The types are deposited in the zoological museum of Leland Stanford Junior University., In a later paper will be presented a number of species known only from Bleeker's types or otherwise notable for their rarity.
