This paper deals with conceptual design, used by a number of young contemporary designers to speculate on matters pertaining to design, as well as other subjects. They do not normally aspire to commercial success, but propose their ideas in exhibitions and publications, so as to participate in public debates. Their activity is usually inspired by the observation of everyday life and they achieve expressive results by reinterpreting ordinary objects. Besides this, when paying attention to our common behaviour as users and consumers, they reveal a critical dimension in design.
