Case 3 MrsM S aged 67. Housewife History: Three months ago noticed lump in left side of vulva which did not respond to antibiotics. On examination: Large mass involving left labium majus and extending into ischiorectal fossa. No glands. All investigations normal. Operation( 6.8.65): Biopsy inflammatory tissue only. Six weeks later further biopsy and excision of groin gland. Histology: A poorly differentiated neoplasm with spindle cell appearance but no cross-striations. Elsewhere cells more spheroidal with very open vesicular nuclei often of convoluted appearance. Considered to be a reticulosarcoma (Figs 5 and 6). Treatment: Radiotherapy 6,250 r to perineum and inguinal glands. She died ten months later with local and distant metastases.
