We thank the author for recognizing the importance of developing and evaluating whether virtual reality job interview training can help enhance skills and the ability to obtain job offers. We agree that our analytic focus was limited to the primary outcome measures; however, we were underpowered to more fully evaluate the impact of symptoms and cognition on training. Moreover, the lack of correlations that we observed between cognition and improved performance could simply reflect that the training is not dependent on one's cognitive capacity and that someone with reduced cognitive ability could still benefit from training. We see this as a potential strength of the training, but the question of this relationship can only be answered by a sufficiently powered trial. The author also brings up an excellent point regarding the benefits of collecting qualitative data. We will be collecting additional qualitative measurements during future evaluations of the training in community effectiveness and implementation trials. In particular, qualitative data will provide valuable insights into how clients, vocational staff, and agency leaders view the barriers and facilitators of implementing the virtual reality job interview training within gold standard vocational training programs like Individual Placement and Support (Drake and Bond, 2011). We look forward to evaluating these and other questions as we continue to study virtual reality job interview training. For instance, there is much more to learn about the mechanisms of why this training appears to improve skills and increase access to job offers.
