Solid-state 13 C NMR measurements carried out on poly(vinylethylene) and polyisobutylene demonstrate that the molecular motions underlying their respective segmental relaxations have vastly different temperature dependencies. These differences parallel the contrasting mechanical behavior exhibited by the two polymers in the vicinity of their glass transition temperature. It is suggested that greater temperature sensitivity reflects a more intermolecularly cooperative relaxation
