Case histories are presented which seem to indicate that both tolerance and immunity can be developed for vivax malaria. Such reactions are in response to the trophozoite rather than to exo-erythro-cytic forms of Plasmodium vivax. Tolerance for P. vivax is not strain-specific, but immunity is definitely so. Subjects with complete tolerance and solid immunity not only show no clinical symptoms of the disease beyond a few trophozoites in the peripheral blood, but exposure to all types of physical hardships could not induce such symptoms to develop. Game-tocytes are not present in peripheral blood and mosquitoes could not be infected by the blood of such immune individuals.
