Surgery is the treatment of choice for bronchial carcinoid. External beam radiation has been used mostly in the palliative setting, however, dose with conventional fractionation might be insufficient to provide local control particularly as a definitive treatment. We present the first known case series of stereotactic body radiotherapy (SBRT) in the treatment of bronchial carcinoid. Our results suggest that SBRT might be considered as a treatment option in the management of inoperable bronchial carcinoid tumors.Stereotactic body radiotherapy might allow an increase in radiation dose over conventional fractionated radiotherapy allowing for improved disease control and reduced toxicity in inoperable bronchial carcinoid. A clinical trial may be of use to further examine this question. (C) 2015 Elsevier Inc. All rights reserved.
