The observation in nature that pupal parasitism of certain muscoid Diptera was highest at lower viable host densities may emphasize the importance of the hosts’ destruction in the developmental stages prior to parasitization. Inoculation or fumigated and unfumigated habitats withMusca domesticaL. eggs demonstrated 53.4 to 99.45% mortality in the presence of predatory and scavenger arthropods. Explanations of probable causes of the negative correlation of parasitization with apparent increasing densities of the host are advanced.
