The synthesis, IR, UV-vis spectra, the stability constants of the Li+L, Na+L and K+ L complexes in MeCN and ion-selective properties of new phosphoryl-containing tripodand 2,4,6-tris[2-(diphenylphosphoryl)-4-ethylphenoxy]-1,3,5- triazine (L) and crystal structures L center dot H2O (1), [LiL(ClO4)center dot center dot center dot(H2O) LLi](ClO4)center dot 11H(2)O (2), [LiLI center dot center dot center dot(H2O) LLi] I center dot 18H(2)O (3) and [K2L2I]I center dot 7.2H(2)O (4) were described. The podand L exhibits Li+ and good Li+/Na+ selectivity.
