This chapter focuses on the last approach to occupational safety and health (OSH): developing training programs. It is aimed primarily at developing training programs for those immigrant workers in manual occupations, and we argue for greater use of research-based OSH training programs for this worker population. After summarizing the characteristics of effective training programs, we discuss characteristics of immigrant workers in manual occupations that shape their training needs. We present a framework for using OSH research to develop training programs. We then discuss procedures for developing effective training activities and materials that can be used in training programs for immigrant workers.(PsycInfo Database Record (c) 2024 APA, all rights reserved)
