Chromosome numbers of eleven species are reported. New reports of n = 22 for S. glauca, n = 27 for S. paniculifera and n = 18 for S. forbesiana are given. Aneuploids were found in S. glauca. S. italica and S. viridis were diploid with n = 9 and the other species showed higher ploidy levels of 4x, 6x and 8x.
