This paper investigates the losses of AIS signals received in different transmission modes based on a fading algorithm for multipath AIS signals transmitted on the sea surface and analyzes the influence of different sea conditions on AIS signals. A numerical study and simulation analysis of multipath fading signals for AIS signals transmitted on the sea surface are performed. This study provides a reference for the positioning process of several multipath signals using the propagation delay measurement of AIS signals as well as for reliable VHF communication link design in offshore engineering. In addition, the results of this research provide evaluation results for using the measured transmission delay of AIS signals in the positioning process of several multipath signals and provide a reference for reliable communication link design in marine engineering for VHF signals.
