The 10.8 m‐long undulator (LU) has been installed at the 13.4 m straight section of the NewSUBARU storage ring. A monochromator beamline was constructed in the downstream of the undulator, and radiation from the LU was characterized. The radiation axis of LU was determined with a cross‐wire beam position monitor. The resolution of the VLS‐PGM‐type monochromator was evaluated by measuring the ionization spectrum of Kr gas. The resolution was at least over 1000, and the expected performance was obtained. Dipole‐error fields and the effect of a geomagnetic field were successfully corrected using air‐core correction coils. The spectral linewidth of the first harmonic radiation, E/dE, was obtained as about 75. The peak intensity of the first harmonic radiation was the same order of magnitude as the theoretical calculation.
